Author's note: I actually did take a trip to Costa Rica although not Cuba and even though I didn't write the book while there, I did take plenty of notes which I used later. Did I ever take that trip off my income tax as an expense? Some of the things that happened to B.B. in "Cowboy" actually happened to me, such as the mix up with the rental car and having to take the so called Expresso bus and meeting a cute girl at the farmer's market in La Fortuna. Unlike B.B. I'm single and didn't have the guilt B.B. being faithfully married has. One of the goals I had originally with B.B. is to have him grow up as he goes through the stories in the book. I have him married to Patricia and he wouldn't think of straying. Well, maybe he'd think about it... In a lot of the action-adventure novels I read, the hero is single and will have a girlfriend for that novel, but then he has to kill her off or somehow get shut of her so he can get a new girl in the next book.
